Jen Accepts Aetna Insurance Plans

Insurance coverage does not guarantee reimbursement of nutrition counseling services. To increase likelihood of reimbursement, it is highly recommended that you obtain a referral from your doctor before making an appointment.

• As of January 2024, Aetna is covering in person preventative sessions in full, regardless of diagnosis or BMI, for 10 sessions, on most plans. Please inquire with your Aetna plan to confirm you qualify for your 10 preventative sessions. 

• Referrals are not required for coverage. However, certain illnesses are covered in full for unlimited sessions, including a diagnosis of obesity, or diabetes. If you obtain a doctor's note with a diagnosis code, known as an ICD-10 code, it may ensure total coverage by Aetna without a co-pay. The only ailments Aetna will not cover for nutrition counseling are: fatigue, ADHD, and Asthma. If you are unable to obtain a diagnosis from your doctor, you are still covered but your session may require a co-pay.

 

• Some plans do not cover Telehealth in full and will require a co-pay, be sure to call Aetna if you are interested in video counseling services.

• If you have a Medicare Advantage plan through Aetna, you will only be covered based on Medicare's coverage rules. Medicare only covers services for Diabetes and End Stage Renal Disease counseling. Any other services you will need to pay out of pocket.

Out-of-Network

If you are out-of-network but have insurance, sessions may still be eligible for reimbursement. Upon request, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit yourself for possible reimbursement. Payment is due from you at time of service.
